Story behind the photo – 153 – Golden chance in Poornachandra Hall.
Sri Suktham says:
Hiranya Varnam Harinim... Suvarna Rajatasrajam
Mahalakshmi, the Goddess of Prosperity, one whose body has the golden colour, one who is decked with Gold and Silver garlands....

The gold foil decoration in Sai Kulwant Hall, was over. Our next assignment was to give a golden touch in the few fittings on the stage of Poornichandra Auditorium. Our working days here coincided with Navarathri celebrations. On the 3rd day of Navrathri, the Divine Kalasam and other Pooja items which were in Mandiram, were shifted and re installed in the Stage of Pooranachandra Auditorium.
After the evening proceedings of Vidhwan Maha Saabha in Kulwant Hall, Swami would move over to Poorna Chandra Hall, where the Rithwiks, (the honoured priests), would be performing the evening rituals and Arathi. When Swami arrived that day, I called down the few artists who were in their work, and with them I went down to the lower level of the hall. There were no public in that Hall. Swami called me to come up the stage and asked me why we had stopped the work. With all humility I submitted that we did not like to stay in higher level and carry on with the work while Swami is there. Swami did not like this. Swami said,
In the Pooja process, we decorate Goddess with golden jewelry, flowers etc. This decoration need not be on the Divine Idols alone. Even the premises are beautified with various fittings including gold. In fact your are coinciding Pooja rituals, with your efforts on gold decorations. So, hence forth, do not stop your work.”
The Pundits rendered hymns of Shanthi Mandram, Manthra Pushpam, and Suvarna Pushpam etc. Swami accepted Arathi offered by priests, and went back to his residence. For the next 5 days our work continued, even after Swami had come and the rituals were going on. We were blessed to be present and enjoy the bliss, all for ourselves, without any devotees present.
